As I heard it, the would-be euthanizer (Bill Tinker) had media vans either
parked outside of or driving by his house nonstop, starting in the early
afternoon on Friday. The ACC director made a personal appearance at his
house at about 7PM, perhaps at Tammy's insistence, and Tinker realized that
he was not going to get any peace and quiet until either the news crews went
away or he was raptured. So I think he just agreed to let the animals go to
the shelter to de-escalate the situation.
Tinker does have a support group of friends and family members. The member
that I talked to said that he loves his animals and provides good care for
them, but that his decision-making ability is clouded by his fervent
beliefs. He honestly thought that he was making the most humane choice by
euthanizing them, though it broke his heart to consider it. We can only hope
that, if he does elect to get the birds and cat back from the shelter, that
they will be OK with him and that someone will escalate as needed if they
need better care.
The whole end-of-the world thing was a lot of fun except for this guy . . .
.

Dear Mickaboo People-
There were tears in our house Fri. talking about the man in Boyes Hot Springs wanting to put down his pets. Blessings on all of you for helping keep them safe, and Vincent Hrovat who was mentioned in our local paper facilitating the rescue. May good things happen for all of you.
(Cat people through and through), but we like birds, too!
