yes! Public opinion from all is welcome and many come from outside the county in support or opposition. I won't be able to attend this meeting but would encourage folks to go and to express their feelings at the mic when it is open for public comment. Both SFACC and SF SPCA are opposing the no-kill recommendation. Here's a note I got from an SFACC volunteer (and MickaCoo supporter) on the topic- *Thanks for passing this along. It's my group, www.FixSanFrancisco.org that brought the issue of no kill legislation to the AWC in 2008. Just so you know, the two largest shelters have fought us and have been as obstructive as possible. Rebecca Katz has been one of our fiercest opponents, at least in terms of no kill legislation. I hope your email can get a lot of people to the meeting. *6.** **New Business *A) Discussion and possible action to send a letter to the Recreation and Park Department regarding what can be done to improve communication with the Department about vegetation removal in Golden Gate Park (and other city parks) and its impact on wildlife and feral cats. Recent construction at the Sharon Art Studio bulldozed, with little warning, a clump of thick habitat used by wildlife and feral cats. The cats had lived there for thirteen years and have not been seen since the bulldozing. However, vegetation (habitat) removal in the parks has been and is an ongoing problem.
