Thanks Elizabeth. I looked up a little more information about the screening that Lynne posted about. (http://www.chirpingcentral.com/events/event_details.asp?id=150126) Harkins is a chain of multiplex cinemas and Scottsdale Fashion Square is a frou-frou mall in an upscale community. (The term "fashion square" is not generally used in the hood! :-) ) So the venue sounds very nice. Unless someone is donating the theater usage to them, it's probably costing them $$$$ up front. Their showing is on a Sunday night, which is probably a not-busy window for most theaters. This might keep theater rental costs lower but it might be challenging to fill seats for a fundraiser on a Sunday night. The group holding this screening, Chirping Central, is a very young organization. ("The website was actually launched in January 2011.") They are an advocacy group for avian conservation, still pretty loosely defined as far as I can tell, but apparently not a rescue and not 501(c)(3). So they might mean well but they don't have the same financial realities that Mickaboo does ($20K vet bills / month!) and they don't necessarily know what they are doing as far as fund-raising. I think that the first things that would need to happen for this to work for Mickaboo, if anyone wishes to pursue it, are that we'd need committed volunteer involvement and would need a quote on how much it would cost to determine feasibility. --VH -----Original Message----- From: media-advisors-bounces@mickaboo.org [mailto:media-advisors-bounces@mickaboo.org] On Behalf Of Elizabeth Y Sent: Wednesday, April 27, 2011 2:26 PM To: Mickaboo media advisor team Subject: Re: [Media-advisors] Rio primate screening I just thought that Lynne's find of another parrot rescue doing some sort of event around Rio would be interesting to the group. I have ZERO bandwidth to contribute towards this beyond my opinion that leveraging the movie in whatever ways Mickaboo can to help get the parrot rescue idea out would be great.
