FWIW, there's another KCBS feature reporter called Phil Matier:

He also has a Chronicle column called Matier and Ross. His/their M.O is to
go behind the scenes on big local stories (mostly SF and CA politics) and
give an incisive insider's analysis. From listening to Matier for years, he
seems fair and no-nonsense and, again, he is not of a vitriolic talk-radio
mentality. If he ever calls for an interview on behalf of either the Chron
or KCBS, I would jump on it. I think he could cut through the noise better
than most.
