Doesn't it just refer to "like" on FaceBook? Means only that she monitors that forum - not that she likes everything they do. The analogy with People magazine is right on. But BirdTalk is a common, legitimate entry point for new bird lovers. It can (and does) promote breeding and sales, but it also endorses fostering and rescue. And it can be the first step toward entry into a community more like Mickaboo (I speak from personal knowledge). I see a FaceBook "like" as innocuous, probably mainly a political decision that Erden wants her work to have exposure in that community, and her voice to be part of that conversation. Various of us are FaceBook "friends" with Mira Tweti, Barbara Heidenreich, Sally Blanchard, et al. — representing in some cases strongly contradictory viewpoints. No big deal.

Those aren't the best publications out there.  Unfortunately it contains too much ick advertising, "pretty" pictures, and, at times, gross generalizations (and junk) - but some articles contain tid-bits of decent enrichment/nutrition/information.  (I think it's akin to the parrot's version of People Magazine) - but I didn't see anything in on the site that suggests she "likes" pet stores...

Manhattan Bird Club has some good members, but it is also notorious for supporting gross exaggerations and partial-truths and guilt-by-association.  It's like saying, "If you've visited Germany, you must be a Nazi."  In this case, because she "likes" a magazine she supports pet-sales?  Unless it's pointed out to me, I can't see where they gleened that info.

Actually, I'm annoyed enough that I'm going to write Sybil and ask her.
