We are all surprised by how this as blossomed so quickly. We are all learning very quickly. I've been working on the minutes and have gotten into the statements made by the anti-ban folks. As soon as I get it done it can be posted on the ACWC website.
Thank you for your expertise and support, Philip
Ps. Please include whoever you think would be helpful.

Hi Phillip,
Yes, please include me in your working group. Would it be Ok for me to share the group emails with the two other board members who made very significant contributions to the article in the Chronicle? They are both excellent strategic thinkers and persuasive writers. They have very valuable skills to add and I could also use the support. Our group came into this project sort of unexpectedly and very late in the game. I had no idea until I came to the meeting last month how contentious this issue was and how much work needed to be done. We want to back all efforts to ban the sale of animals in SF.
I am glad that the idea of talking with pet stores that do not sell animals has already come up. It seems like a logical way to go to ask for the support of those stores. They are also good examples of alternative business models, since they don't sell animals.
Thank you very much for your recognition of our article and your support of this important issue.

Hi Marcy,
I'm ahead of you on that. In that HSUS had suggested it to me a few months back. They had a program that i didn't feel like participating in because stores that signed up and did not sell pets would be on their referral list. It also wasn't my role as Commissioner to be going to pet supply stores in behalf of HSUS for their support.
Would you like to be included on my working group efforts? Elizabeth suggested including you.
I visited all the Supervisors yesterday with a copy of your "protect a right to solve a problem" from last Fridays Chronicle in hand as the best reasoning for the ban.
Philip

HI All,
I think the place to go next is to get the stores that DO NOT sell animals to support the ban and also to show that small business in SF can and do thrive without selling live animals.
There are two tabs - one of stores that don't sell pets and one of stores that do. So far, there are more stores that do not sell any animals than those that do. This is the start of the list, but it's probably best for you guys to confirm the info and talk directly with the store owners.
