What frequency is TER? Also, what are their FCC call letters? A quick google didn't show any station in California with call letters of KTER. and the phone number given is apparentlty for a cellular account based in Hayward, all of which makes me suspicious!

Here's the scoop:
He has a group of non-profits/charitable, local community organizations he says he "kind of cycles through," giving them a (brief) voice on a regular basis (it sounds like he interviews for 15 minutes & edits to 5 minutes). The person who speaks to them (which doesn't have to be the same person) and/or the organization decides the topic for each interview; I'm sure he decides which ones really work for him, too.
The first appointment available to us is either today-- he has one slot left, between 2:30pm & 4pm -- or Friday, when he's pretty open.
Do we want to open with talking about the wild parrots of SF and how we care for them (Jennifer)? - always a good attention getter. This will also be a venue for talking about Rio, the movie, when it comes out, and macaws in general.
I suspect the radio station is not highly listened to, so my hopes are not high that this will give us incredible exposure, but any exposure is good exposure (except that brutal divorce situation), so they say.
I don't necessarily think pitching that everyone vote for us on pepsi would be the best way to open? - I'm wondering if we want to save that pitch for March or whenever we go back to that, to give more bang for the buck at
I am sorry to raise suspicions about what is probably a legitimate opportunity for PR, but I'm remembering the last 8+ months of James Spaid and his minions showing up like whack-a-moles in one venue after another trying to make Mickaboo look bad, and the vitriol that some bird sellers expressed at the SF hearings last year. It's quite possible that this is a tiny, grass-roots station (perhaps Internet-only?) without a lot of credentials, that is genuinely trying to help non-profits like ours. But I think that some disclosure on their end is at least highly desirable. Could you call back and get his email address, claiming that email is a better way to reach you? If he gives you a personal address instead of one that ties back to his station, that is another point of concern, IMO. You can also thank him for helping NPOs, etc. and ask for his call letters and frequency so that you can listen to his station. Any good radio guy should be anxious to give out such information! Also, can we, in general, opt out of having an interview aired after we have started participating in the interview? I am thinking of exit strategy in case the interviewer begins going off on the wrong topic. --VH -----Original Message----- From: media-advisors-bounces@mickaboo.org [mailto:media-advisors-bounces@mickaboo.org] On Behalf Of Patricia Blau Sent: Tuesday, January 25, 2011 11:11 AM To: Mickaboo media advisor team Subject: Re: [Media-advisors] Jonathan Ricker, T E R radio in SF, (510) 962-5693 Importance: High hm, crap. I wish I'd asked him this on the first call. Calling back with suspicions isn't a great way to start a relationship, if it's legit. What do you want to do? On Jan 25, 2011, at 10:26 AM, Vincent J.
