Dear Animal Friend:

The East Bay SPCA would like to invite your organization to join us for our annual Adoptathon, to be held at Jack London Square in Oakland. Jack London Square is not only beautiful, but also an excellent central location for Bay Area shelters and beyond.  Every summer, we invite  Animal Shelters and Rescue Groups to join us in an effort to place rescued animals into loving homes.  The staff at Jack London Square are strong supporters of our cause, and our goal is to establish a trend in the community so that local residents can anticipate our Adoptathon for years to come at this ideal location.    

This year’s event details are as follows: 

· Sunday, July 19, 2009.  The event will be held from 10am to 3pm.  Set up is from 8:30am – 10:00 am.  Break down is from 3pm – 4:00pm.  Jack London Square is located at the foot of Broadway at Embarcadero. 

· Please visit the website for directions at www.jacklondonsquare.com.  This will be an outdoor only event, so bring warm clothes as the temperature on the coastline is unpredictable.    

· We will not be able to provide canopies, but we do recommend that you bring one as there is always a chance of intense heat and/or bright sun.  Last September the weather was moderate, but the sun was intense the later part of the day.  We can provide a limited number of tables and chairs upon request.  We would like to reserve the tables for organizations that are traveling far, so please bring your own if you are local and able.  You are welcome to bring information about your organization for visitors, or to fundraise for your organization.

· As an added bonus, we are hosting this event simultaneously with Jack London Square’s Farmer’s Market and the Oakland Artisan’s Marketplace.  This joining of forces will attract hundreds of visitors and potentially increase the number of adoptions.  We are also getting an early start this year, so there will be much more time for advertising.  Ideally we would like to have a complete list of organizations who will be attending by May 1^st for advertising purposes.    

If you would like to be a part of this year’s Adoptathon event, please respond via e-mail no later than June 15, 2009 , and please attach your organization’s logo for use in our promotional material.  Space will be designated on a first come, first serve basis.  Groups that RSVP early (before May 1) will be included on all promotional material.

In the past, our experience has been that when people know there will be dozens and dozens of dogs, cats and other furry creatures available, they are more likely to visit and bring their friends!   You don’t want to miss this year’s Adoptathon!
