[Mickaboo Action] More info about the PHS conure that needs a foster home

One of Mickaboo's volunteers has spent time at the Peninsula Humane Society helping out there too. She has worked with the Nanday that PHS has asked us to take in. This is what she has to say about the bird: I believe you are referring to Martha. I'm very fond of Martha. She is quiet for a conure. I leave her cage door open when I'm cleaning up in there and once she came out. When I tried to get her to step up she flew to the ground but I was able to get her to step up from the floor and she was very well behaved. We spent a little time together looking out the window. I think Martha would really benefit and grow more confident with one on one handling. She's not what I would call an easily frightened or jumpy bird ... My impression is that Martha is not used to a lot of handling. When she came to PHS she had a female cherry head for a cage mate. They were separated because they were extremely nesty together and one of them started laying eggs. The Cherry head got adopted. Martha was adopted a month or more ago but was returned because she bit someone. Martha is not a wacky bitey bird as far as I can tell she just needs some knowledgeable handling and a little patience. I would take her if I could. Please won't someone step up (hee!) and offer this little girl a home where she can feel loved and be given the time and attention she needs? Conures are a delightful, playful, cheeky type of parrot - I have three in my life and adore them for their antics and personalities. I'd sure love to see this little one get more one-on-one time ... it's always the better socialized birds that find adoptive homes the easiest. And it's a honour and a delight to be the human that helps get a bird to that point. ~ Ailsa Conure Coordinator Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue Share your support of Mickaboo!
