Just wanted to clarify something that I didn't do a very good job of explaining before: You CAN order quantities such as 10 or 15 lbs by just ordering in multiples of 5: for example 10 lbs. for $20, or 15 lbs for $30.
Secondly, for those of you who would like to order walnuts, a gentle reminder that we need your checks by Sept. 30. The walnuts that you order will be bagged for you and held back from the harvest for Diamond Walnuts. Once the crop has been harvested, any walnuts we have set aside for Mickaboo folks can not be sold to Diamond - that is why all orders must be pre-paid .
For those of you who have already mailed in your checks - thank you!!

OK, lots of people have been asking about walnuts lately, so here's the deal: My husband's family orchard is in Stockton, and last year we held some of those walnuts back from harvest for Mickaboo folks. They are the jumbo walnuts, and a soft shell variety, so the bigger birds have no problem cracking the nut when you give it to them whole. For the smaller birds, you can either crack the nut to get them started, or break the meat up into smaller pieces and give it to them a bit at a time.
Remember, you must have the space for proper storage of the nuts: that means refridgerator, or (even better) a freezer. Otherwise they will go bad, especially if you leave them out in this hot weather we've been having lately.
Let me know if you want us to hold some walnuts back for you. Once harvest is complete in October, the walnuts will be available for pickup in San Ramon, or I can deliver at the Christmas party. Sorry, we won't be able to ship, but you might be able to find somebody on the Mickaboo Bird Train going your way.
5 lbs. soft-shell jumbo walnuts: $10
20 lbs. soft-shell jumbo walnuts: $38
50 lbs. soft-shell jumbo walnuts: $95
