I have spoken with a woman in the past who wanted to surrender a bonded pair of Blue & Gold macaws. Her issue was lack of time since she returned to work. We talked a lot about how she might be able to continue to keep her birds and I think she has been working on it. Very early this morning she called me to say she really needs to move her birds ASAP. In addition to the macaws she has a Citron Cockatoo. These birds are relatively young 6 - 7 years old. The issue is an abusive spouse who drinks and smokes all day in the home and has gambled away all their resources. She is afraid he will burn down the house while she is at work and also is concerned what he might do to the birds when she is not at home. She has moved these three large birds into a back room where they scream. She is also worried about her neighbors complaining. This woman is very concerned for her birds and must move them to a safe place. She can not even leave her abusive spouse for her own safety until she knows her birds are ok.
