[Mickaboo Action] Re: Transport of a cage March 31st

I can't find the list with other vols on it who said they would help.
Is there anyone who can help with this transport job this coming Saturday?
It is only from San Jose to Hayward, a really short distance. It would be a
great way to find out if you have the 'transport bug', like Tom and I do.
Well, especially Tom as he is retired and I have to still punch the dern
clock each day.
Please email Susan Mini or Cathy Hesse if you can help.

I replied, that I could help, to one of the subsequent to the original e-mails. I have learned not to jump too soon! Hehe. I knew the basics, but could not remember the whole story.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for helping out with this transport. Most of the details are in the e-mail below that I sent on March 18th. If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me.
Jef is re-locating from Washington State to the Bay Area. He has run up against some difficult times financially, and is starting from scratch. He will be staying on and off with friends in SF until he can get back on his feet financially again. Originally, Jef was looking to surrender Chloe, as his life was going to be unstable in the next few months, and he didn't want to put Chloe through this. But in talking with Jef, it became more and more evident his love and dedication for this bird, so we got permission from Nancy to hold on to and care for Chloe for an alloted amount of time, so Jef could get settled financially and be able to take Chloe back.
We really appreciate your help with all of this! Jef is very appreciative as well. Again, if you have any question, feel free to contact me.

I can still do it, I was just trying to cut down travel. I don't know all the details, obviously, or how Washington State enters into it.

Thank Bill for offering to help! We'll wait to hear from Tom, and go from there. If Tom is unable to do the transport, the list of other volunteers would be great. Talk to you soon!

I have a dusty list of other folks who have said they can help with transport issues. It is sitting under my monitor on the desk, I think. Let me look and see if I can press someone into service. If any of you have any other ideas, please don't hesitate to act on them, OK? This shouldn't be a big move. I am sorry I won't be able to help as we are having a once in a lifetime yard sale on Saturday...and it is over at 2PM

I don't think at this point we would be able to change it. Jef is borrowing a car from a friend to drive down to San Jose Saturday and Cathy mentioned it was a day she would be free. Jef is en-route right now from Washington State. I don't imagine it will take more than a half and hour to get the cage loaded up (2-2:30pm). If Saturday isn't a good day for you to meet them, let me know and I will see if I can find someone else to help with transport,

Is there any chance this could be done Sunday? The Sharks game gets out around 5:30 in San Jose.

I will not be available but perhaps I can arrange for another vol to give it a go. Assuming Sir Tom is not available to do it....Tom?

Hi Bill and Tom,
Are either of you available March 31st at 2pm to help transport a stainless steel cage from San Jose to Cathy Hesse's home in Hayward?
The cage to be transported is an Animal Environments Stainless Steel cage. It sounds like the main body of the cage is welded together and Cathy won't be able to get it into her vehicle. This cage is for Chloe the Timneh African Grey who is being temporarily fostered by Mickaboo.
Here is what Jeff, Chloe's owner, says about the cage in a previous e-mail:
The Animal Environments cage has a debris apron which protrudes beyond the actual cage itself, as well as the playtop perches which extend the height, and I've included these in my measurements so you have the total size. It also has an understructure with casters so it can be moved easily:32" @ widest point x 41" @ longest x 64" @ highestAs for the cage, being Stainless Steel, the actual box portion of her cage is welded together; however both the playpen top and the castered, standing base piece (along with the apron and the base tray can all be separated if need be. If someone has an SUV or minivan, it should be able to fit inside without too much effort.I would assume that the movers will probably have separated the cage into its component pieces, but it's not that difficult to reassemble at all - though I would say it definitely requires two people working together to get the four, corner connecting legs in their respective slots all at the same time.
Cathy will be meeting Jeff at the moving facility in San Jose, where Chloe's cage is being stored.Cathy will be picking up Chloe from Jeff at that time, so if either of you are available to meet Cathy and Jeff at 2pm and help transport the cage to Cathy's house, that would be great! The address of the moving facility where Jeff will be meeting Cathy on the 31stis 150 EAST TRIMBLE ROAD SAN JOSE CA 95131.
Thank you for considering this!Let me know if you can help.Talk to you soon!
