[Mickaboo Action] Foster home(s) needed for 2 baby Cockatiels

Hi everyone, There are two baby Cockatiels who have recently finished being weaned, and they're all set to be moved into foster homes! They're just two little feathered balls of lovin'! They need to go into the same foster home for the first few days but, once we're sure they're okay and eating, we can--and should--move them into separate foster homes. This is because it's very natural for clutch mates to not live together as adults and, perhaps more importantly, there are already many closely-bonded pairs of Cockatiels in Mickaboo's care and pairs are definitely harder to adopt out than single birds. Here's the important catch, though: Both of these babies need to be *strictly* quarantined for their own sake, because adult Cockatiels are commonly carriers of Polyoma after being exposed to it at some point in their lives, and, although it usually doesn't harm adults, it would likely be fatal for the babies. I'm not sure what this means in terms of what the 'quarantine' requirements will be once the usual quarantine period is over, so I'm waiting to hear back from their vet about that. Please let me know ASAP if you can help out! -- Shannon Shrewsbury Cockatiel Coordinator Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue 501(c)3 (C) 650.814.7439 www.mickaboo.org shannon@mickaboo.org
