Hi! I'm not sure what the next adjective beyond "Critical" is but I'm there. Its almost spring and the Amazons are feisty and now seems to be a good time for everybody to get rid of their birds and move out of the area. I haven't words to tell you how desperate we are for amazon foster homes. Even to the point that we are clearing out my garage to add cages for incoming birds. Garages are not a good place for birds and my garage is not a nice place period. All it can offer is safe, warm, and sort of clean. I think as an organization we get high marks for jumping in when there is an emergency and I'm really asking for your help now. I already have 12 amazons and macaws upstairs (just think about that for a moment) and will now have more in the garage. Not a good thing for traumatized birds but hopefully a temporary respite for these innocent victims until somebody else can help. PLEASE HELP these birds. This is not an old message so please read on. We are expecting at least four intakes soon which will require two foster homes to take two birds each. We have several amazons coming in who will need an experienced large bird caretaker. We also will be taking in an amazon/cockatoo duo that would probably do well together. None of these birds are bonded to each other but have lived together for a number of years and it only makes sense to provide that familiarity if we can. If you start your spring housecleaning early and throw out some furniture, you will have more room for cages . Please let me know if you can help.
