Hi!

I just received a "slew" of responses challenging my comment that I'd had no replies about a foster home for the two B&G macaws.  You were right - I did have a reply from a relatively new foster parent named Skip. Skip is one of our most enthusiastic foster parents with a great "can do" attitude.  I visited his home recently and was very appreciative of the obvious love and good care he gives the 5 large birds he is responsible for.  He offers to help every large bird that comes in.  We need more people like Skip.  However, the larger birds that come to Mickaboo so often have a history of bad treatment by humans, or have serious health issues, and focused quality caretaking for a few birds becomes much more important than just filling someone's house and garage with needy birds. The Adoption Coordinators have to manage the placements so that the foster family doesn't take in more than they can handle.  (This is spoken by me - the poster child for overcommitment to large birds - there are currently 12 amazons and macaws in my bird room.)

We can all thank Skip for being willing to do more than his share.  Now I need a few more willing to step up.

Thanks.
