Hi All!
Katie Franz is going on vacation for a week so I am back in the amazon group as back up. Katie has petitioned nicely for help with some difficult amazons and we are still desperate for help. We are looking for homes that can provide the following:
1. Space for a macaw sized cage.
2. General care and feeding of an older Blue Front Amazon that does not trust
humans.
Neither of these birds does well outside of the cage, which is why they each have large cages. One had a bad life prior to Mickaboo and is considered special needs due to a damaged wing and vision in only one eye. The other lived the life of Riley in a gorgeous Hillsborough home. Both are territorial and improperly socialized. They do like human interaction when they are in the safety of their cages. Both birds have been living in environments with other birds. One needs to move quickly because he is
living in an unheated garage in a location that starts to get cold in a few weeks. The other needs to move even sooner because his Mickaboo adopter has some health challenges which preclude the ability to continue to care for him.
These are not sweet affectionate birds but they are just the type of bird for which Mickaboo exists. They are healthy and beautiful. I need someone to step up VERY SOON because these guys don't have a lot of options.
Fostering the "tough nuts" is the greatest gift you can give a needy bird. Providing a healthy environment in a home where the bird feels safe and secure goes a long way to heal the problems from the past. PLEASE HELP! We just absolutely need to have a place to move these guys.
As always, thanks so much for considering this.
