There are several Wildlife Centers in the Bay Area.  Let them help you.
I have a list -- Let me know where you're located.

Subject: [Mickaboo Action] OT: wild bird nests / relocation

Can anyone email me directly? This morning, during
work, my husband had to relocate a few nests
containing eggs of "black-colored birds with yellow
eyes". He contacted a local wildlife organization and
they advised him to move the nests within 10 feet of
the original location. Good news, so far, one of the
mom's has found her nest. However, he was told that
in the event there were hatchlings and the mothers
didn't return, they would treat them like pigeons, go
collect them, then euthanize them.

We were very surprised to learn this (to put it mildly
and politely), and wanted to know if there were other
organizations we could call in Contra Costa County?
