Harrison died a week short of two months after we first rescued him. He seemed to be doing better for a while, and even seemed to enjoy taunting his foster-mom's Meyers parrots, who could never seem to figure out how to get past his plexiglass playpen's walls to challenge him.

In the last week of his life, Harrison began having seizures and then declined rapidly. We are still unsure why some of these birds seem to be doing so much better and then decline again so rapidly. Hopefully in time we'll have a better understanding of this illness and will be able to better address the needs of these birds.

I am one of the famed "Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" but I'm now a Mickaboo bird because I have come down with the neurological illness that affects some members of the flock. I was found in San Francisco, unable to perch or fly and very very ill. A wonderful Mickaboo volunteer rushed out to rescue me and take me to a vet. At first I didn't seem as ill as Cassandra, who was found ill on the same day, but then I started to get worse and it was feared I wouldn't survive. However, I pulled through and am now stable. My job now is to live a healthy life and work on overcoming the clumsiness that comes with this illness. Maybe you'd like to help a minor celebrity back to his feet?
