UPDATE: We hope no one out there thinks that this pretty little girl's name means she's growly! Sweet Leona is the gentlest of fluffy yellow cockatiels. She loves head rubs so much, she'll happily sit on a human perch as long as they will skritch her head. She has a teensy little aversion (well, make it a total aversion) to actually leaving her cage, but once she's out, she's "as sweet as candy" (according to her foster mom). Leona has an exposed air sac on her shoulder and a tendency to arthritis because of having lived in a cage with inadequate perches. So she must be handled gently, but is otherwise in good health.
Hi, my name is panthera Leona, the yellow lion. I'm very brave most of the time, and I'm prepared to face the world. I used to have a nice home of my own, but my wings were left to grow out a little, and that's all it took. I must have flown quickly away from home, and then couldn't find my way back. We birds will do that, sometimes, without thinking about how much we love our home. Then we're lost and left to find a safe place. I'm lucky, some kind soul took me to a shelter and Mickaboo found me there. I'm a little nervous from all of the scary things I've seen, so I could use some quiet time and a nice safe home. In a nice safe place, I'm ready to go back to being a brave little yellow lion!
