This little baby budgie never had a chance. He was shipped by a breeder to a pet store before he was fully weaned, and the pet store employees were not trained to recognize the signs of starvation, or the indications that this baby bird was too young to feed himself. By the time a Mickaboo volunteer saw the bird in the store and took him to a vet, he was too weak to fight the infection that had also taken hold. Probably no one wanted this baby bird to die, not the breeder or the pet store employees. Only education and constant vigilence by members of the public can stop this kind of situation from occurring.
