Hello! I'm new to the Mickaboo Macaw Group. My name is Nemo. I'm a Blue & Gold macaw approximately 11 years old. I've already had at least two homes and although I am a friendly bird I have had little socialization. I don't know how to step up and am used to having someone open the cage door and then ignore me. I need an experienced macaw caretaker who has time to work with me. I know I will feel more comfortable if I know what I'm supposed to do in my new home. My former owner said I was a BIG bird but my foster mom says I'm small for a Blue & Gold. My new mom also says I am afraid of people, dogs and cats although seem to like the sound of other big birds. I'm glad to be in a great foster home for a Mickaboo Christmas and would like to plan to spend 2008 with my own special people. If you are out there, my special people, its time to play the game "Finding Nemo". Come look for me! I'm not far away and will be so glad to see you. Update: 1/26/08 Just wanted to tell you I've moved a bit trying to get settled in and it is pretty obvious I need to be with a VERY experienced macaw caretaker - someone who knows the ropes around scaredy-birds like me. I will work for food and gently take it from human fingers but then hot foot it to the back of my cage to enjoy it. I'm not at a point where I am sure I enjoy any touching and I afraid to get close enough to step up, which I don't know how to do. My new foster mom will be putting me through my paces. I still want to hear from you though - especially if you know how to work with macaws.
