I'm the story that goes with the title "When Christmas Gifts Go Wrong"...I'm Noel, a handsome grey cockatiel who was dumped at the shelter by a man who made a very rude remark about Christmas. Apparently he didn't appreciate the gift of a companion parrot! But, hey, that was a few holidays ago, and I'm ready to move on.
Though I'm not finger tame, I am used to people and my foster mom says I'll soon turn into a social butterfly, er ... bird. I've already impressed her with my lovely singing voice and ability to learn quickly from other birds and whistling humans. I also have a very friendly chirp - I'll greet you when you come in the room and keep up my end of the conversation with chirps throughout the day. My favorite toy is my mirror. I like to sit in front of it and admire that good-looking cockatiel. My favorite sound is the crinkle of a chips bag. I would like to live on tortilla chips, but my foster mom seems to think they aren't a healthy diet. She recommends you open the bag out of my hearing and put the chips in a container. Then I guess you have to give me good birdie treats, instead. Well, I can live with that, as long as I have a special home with someone who appreciates that I'm the gift that keeps on giving!

Noel is the top bird playing tag with Joey on the bottom. Moonpie is in the background.

An update from Noel's foster home: "Noel is a smart little guy. He's quickly learning Chavey & Scooter's baseball ditty. He's very sweet and loves the company of other cockatiels. Noel is quickly learning to step-up, but only outside of the cage. He doesn't bite when he doesn't want to step up, he'll just scoot away. He's making the conversion to pellets because he likes to copy his roommates."
