Ava here! I was found outdoors, perched on a fence in the affluent community of Atherton, near Palo Alto. That might not sound so bad at first but let me tell you it was scary! There were no street lights out there or anything, and lots of raccoons and falcons too -- not a safe place for a little bird like me. A kind-hearted human family brought me inside and kept me in their bathroom for an afternoon until Mickaboo could come get me.

In foster care I was quite scared and stand-offish at first, but after a few days I realized that my foster mom is actually pretty cool. She gives me all kinds of foods that I've never had before -- green leafy things and tasty little cakes made especially for parrots. Wow! I have eaten a lot here and look forward to finding out what is on the menu tomorrow! I have made a cockatiel friend in foster care too, Jeremy . Like me, he is a normal grey and, also like me, he is still pretty cautious. Jeremy and I look out for each other and that helps. My foster mom named me Ava because my demure, understated beauty reminds her of the great actress, Ava Gardner. I'm not a fan of classic movies so I don't really know what that means, but I do like to look good and I take care of myself by preening often. Not to brag or anything, but I am an attractive girl and Mickaboo says that I look and act healthy.

I'd prefer going to a home with at least one other cockatiel for me to be friends with. I'd also like lots of good food and plenty of light. If you would like to make the acquaintance of a sweet and lovely leading lady, call Mickaboo and ask for Ava!
