Update 4/18/06:
"Mirage is just the cuddly people bird we were looking for. She wants to be with us all the time...(preferably on top of us, which we like just fine.) She even sits on my shoulder while I teach guitar lessons! She took a trip to the vet recently and is on antibiotics, which seem to have cleared up a little cold and some eye irritation she had going on. We're waiting for blood test results. I'm pretty sure she considers herself the highest life form in the house, but is nevertheless kind to all her subjects, including adults, children and other pets. S ome are even granted the honor of the royal head skritching... Gotta go, the lady calleth! :)
You may need to take notes to remember that I am a white-face, possibly-cinnamon pearl, female cockatiel, but one look and you won't forget how gorgeous I am. I've been named Mirage (Mira for short) because my foster mom could hardly believe her eyes when she saw me. When my former human family moved to a place that doesn't allow pets, they asked Mickaboo to find me a new home. As though I would make a mess! I'm just 6 years old, so I expect to be part of my next family for a long time. I'm definitely a people bird, and like to hang out on a friendly shoulder and nuzzle a warm human neck. It takes me a little while to become comfortable with a new person but I don't bite. Until I know you, I may resist stepping up but it shouldn't take too long before I take new hands in stride. Head rubs are appreciated, too, but please be patient. I may be inconsistent until I realize I am in my new forever home. I appear healthy, although I was on an all-seed diet until I met my foster mom. I still resist pellets and veggies and all that healthy stuff, but I'm gradually learning to try new things by starting with Nutriberries. Maybe if you show me how much YOU like broccoli, I'll come around and we can share meals. In the meantime, isn't there a lot of your life that you would like to share with a reserved, sweet, sophisticated pearly girl?
