Update 03/06/2008: Pookie has a respiratory problem as well as a GI tract problem at this time. She's getting treatment, and additional ex-rays, to further determine the extent of her current health problems. Until she gets well, Pookie is not available for adoption. Please check back soon though!
Do you like white balls of fluffy down? Fluffy birds of an independent nature? Well, then you just might like me! My name is "Pookie" and I'm a gal of about 15 years old. My caretaker retired and wants to travel now. She knows this would stress me out so she decided it was in my best interest to find another good home for me. I'm used to a healthy diet including pellets so no need for conversion with me! My mom says I am a VERY smart bird. I'll step up onto your finger, I say "c'mon" and try a few other words, and I like to do this really cute thing - the touch down symbol with my wing. My mom says, "We will, we will, ROCK YOU! 'Touch Down!!!'" and I tip my wing down. I also climb in and out of my cage like a monkey and can run around the house as fast as my human can. Pretty cool huh? Sitting with you, under your shirt or sweater is my idea of bonding. Eating with my human is a fun thing as well. In addition to my cuteness and healthy appetite I do tend to nip at times - but only when I'm mad at you - goes along with my independence I guess. You'll need to set some guidelines for me, but I'm worth it. I'm really quite plucked. My avian vet cannot find anything wrong so it's most likely behavioral. I came from a rescue several years ago so my full past is not known. Possibly multiple moves, which can be hard on a bird - 'ya know? I have a lot of spirit.
