These four pretty little budgies are Tarquin and Tamblyn (the green boy budgies), Twilight (the multicolored lady bird between the two boys), and Twinkle (the little turquoise girl up at the top). They're so bright and healthy looking, here in their picture in the sunshine, that it is painful to remember how very sick they were. The four budgies were acquired off craigslist by a lady who didn't know how sick they were. Once she had them, she watched their faces slowly become crusty looking. They had face mites, and two of the budgies were very sick, indeed. The lady was unable to pay for vet care, so she called Mickaboo. We took them in and obtained medical care immediately for them. Two were very weak. Face mites (or "scaly" mites) are very debilitating. It is a nasty infection that is very easily treated and cured. Two or three doses of the right medication, and the mites are gone. We constantly find birds, especially budgies, that have suffered badly from a terrible infestation because their people will not or cannot take them to a vet. These four little ones are healthy now, and very happy to be in a sunny foster home. Their foster mom says they are very quiet -- the quietest budgies she's seen. The four of them are also very attached to each other, and they have relied on each other through what must have been a truly terrible experience. We would like them to be adopted together, too. They are so very happy together--they bring their happiness with them!
