UPDATE 3/3/08: I fooled everyone! I am actually a beautiful female cockatiel so of course I need an appropriate name. And that name is Ava!

Hello I am Hank, the 'Tiel. I am a good bird and do not get into major trouble like cord chewing or earring pulling, but love sitting on a shoulder or knee to preen. I love preening. That is because I think I am very pretty, being a Cinnamon and all. I work hard on enhancing my cocoa-colored gorgeousness whenever I am not busy. I particularly like sitting behind a laptop screen, near the cooling fan, since it is nice and warm there. I step-up without any trouble, but I do have opinions sometimes, which I voice by squawking and light nibbling on the hand. Yet I am no biter or a meanie, it's just that sometimes after I step up onto a finger I end up in that very dreadful place...THE CAGE. And I don't like being in my cage because that means I am not in the immediate company of humans.
I am not very vocal and the occasional pitiful squawking means "please let me out", which I do not persist with for long, just long enough to get your attention. I soooooo adore head scritches, and in a perfect world I would like to be scritched constantly. Since humans do not speak cockatiel, to get attention I walk up to one and just bow my head expectantly. I eat pellets and even veggies, but only if you eat them with me. That's right, I love to try absolutely anything that you are eating, be it a carrot or an apple or even mashed sweet potatoes. I mean, it can't be bad, since you are eating it, right? I am not a glutton and only eat a little at a time. By the way, I use my foot to hold the grubs, like the big parrot that I think I am!
I must confess that I really, really like men, or at least tall people. I am partial to the man of the house. The woman ... well, I will not bite her, but she just doesn't have the same touch. Otherwise I am very social and mannerly with everyone, enjoy walking around, sitting on shoulders and eating treats.
Thus far I have managed to charm every single person who has come to visit. What do you know, maybe I'll charm you, too!
