Do you smell incense and hear a wailing flute in the distance at the mention of my name? Or think dim lights, comfy cushions and sleepy eyes while a sweet sultry voice spins a tale of intrigue that keeps you in suspense through the night? Hello! My very beautiful name is Scherezade. I was named after a legendary Persian Queen who told stories to the King for 1001 nights to keep her head attached to her shoulders. Read Tales of the Arabian Nights if you want to know more. Anyway, you won't really smell incense around me because it is very dangerous for birds! And like all big birds when night time comes I like to get a little shut-eye myself for 10 - 12 hours. I am a young Blue & Gold Macaw only about 5 years old, purchased at a pet store and now my family is moving out of the country. I am a very sweet bird and good with kids. As a matter of fact, speaking of comfy cushions, I slept with my previous owners' son at night. It was comfy but between you and me I'd prefer my cage in case of an emergency like an earthquake or if I had to go potty. I'm in a Mickaboo foster home and already eating healthy pellets. If you have time and energy for a young macaw and space for a large cage and activity area, contact my coordinator. I'll be sending in more news soon . . . Update 10/24/07 Hi! As you can see from my picture I'm just hanging around, looking at the world with a whole new perspective and waiting for your call. My foster family has discovered important information for any potential new home - I am ok around other birds but somewhat skittish. Anyone interested in meeting me who has other birds should have experience managing big bird relationships.
