Greetings! We are ET and Lace, a bonded a pair of grey cockatiels. I, Lace was originally thought to be a female, (thus the name) do the typical vocalizations at dawn and dusk as well as some quirky little tunes and noises as well. I'm creative I guess you could say! My former mom said I am quite impressive, too, because I pick up food with my foot to eat. I understand that is not something that 'tiels usually do - but did I'm not typical you know? I must be smarter than the average 'tiel - you think? At a previous home the gals 9 year old daughter could hold me, pat me pick me up -- anything -- and I loved it. However at my most recent place I admit I kind of gave the lady a hard time. If she wanted to pick me up or move me at all she had to use a stick - but I did step up for her so she could move me from spot to spot with no problem at all. I'm just kind of picky about who my pals are I guess. On the other hand a previous owner told everyone how mean of a bird my buddy ET was. But - my most recent owner says he is a delight - a real sweetie in fact. You see what happened is that my most recent owner was a bit more bird savvy. It took her less than a day to figure out that ET wasn't biting when she put her finger out to step up - he was holding on. In case you didn't realize, some cockatiels rest their beak on the destination perch before stepping. ET actually hung onto her finger before stepping up... and no wonder - I'm sure his previous owner would yank her hand away anticipating a bite when all he was doing was balancing himself and/or hanging on so she wouldn't yank her hand away in mid-step. He seldom uses his beak anymore though as he is stepping up. Occasionally he will peck once in awhile if you are not watchful though - if he's not pleased about something, just pinch, not a serious bit or anything. ET knows his name and will respond to it. He's one smart cookie like me! So, if you happen to be looking for very smart birds to keep you company - then we are the pair for you. We only have a couple minor requests. One, that we stay together and two - can you please provide me with some wooden toys? I just love to chew! We'll be waiting.
