Once in a blue moon--make that a grey moon--a special opportunity comes along. I'm a special opportunity in the form of a handsome grey cockatiel named Maki, an Aborigine word for moon. My person was struck by serious illness, so at 8 years of age I'm in need of a new family. I sing, I whistle, and I flirt by making kissy sounds. I consider a human shoulder a wonderful place to hang out. A secure perch is a must right now as my current wing clip is so severe that I can fall like a moon rock in earth gravity. Luckily, new feathers will grow in soon. I take good care of my feathers by bathing and preening. I confess to being a seed junkie, but my foster mom is doing a great job convincing me that pellets are good, too. But nobody will change my mind about the great evil of crumpled white paper products! A wad of paper towel is a monster for sure. When one gets too close, I may bite whatever is handy, even if that is a finger, to defend myself. But if you can understand that, please moonwalk over to meet me.
