UPDATE 8/8/05:
"Cocoa is such a joy to have. There is nowhere he would rather be than on a loving shoulder. He definitely enjoys human company over that of his brothers and sister. Cocoa enjoys frequent showers and head rubs. He is a good eater who enjoys pellets, veggies, wheat bread, avi-cakes and whole wheat pasta. If put on the floor at your feet he will sing if you wiggle your toes at him.....it is the funniest thing! At 9:30 every morning on the dot he sings a very high pitched tune that is sure to wake anyone! When he sees me walk in the room he leans forward so that I will pick him up....it looks as though he is gonna do a nose dive right onto the floor!! Although he was fostered alone and enjoys getting all my attention, he is settling in with his brothers and sister just fine! I just love him to pieces!"
UPDATE 2/28/04:
Cocoa's foster mom reports that Cocoa is the sweetest bird. He really likes to be with people and allows you to pet him and give him head rubs. He steps up every time now and likes to share your dinner. He sings a song every morning for her.
Hello. My name is Cocoa. I'm a ten-year-old normal gray male cockatiel. I hate it when people classify me as normal because there is nothing normal about me! I was dropped off at the Humane Society with no information about me, just my name. Was it something I said? I then had a brief hospital stay. I was pretty dehydrated and I really needed a diet change. I also have a lot of wing fractures that were never properly taken care of, so my feathers stick out a little. I told you that I wasn't "normal", but who wants to be normal? I?m now getting used to my foster parent. She?s been trying to get me to "step up". Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I can't let her have her way every time now can I? She lets me sit on her shoulder and eat from her plate. I really like broccoli, pasta, and peas. Tonight I sang for her for the first time. You should have seen the look on her face! I even gave her a wolf whistle for good measure! She tried not to make a big deal out of it, but I could tell that she was pleased. So....if you are looking for a normal gray who isn't quite normal, then I'm the guy for you!
