Update 07/08/08: Thank goodness (and thanks to Mickaboo!), I came out of all those health problems pretty darn well, all things considered. I am a sweet little girl Amazon named DeeBee, but my foster Mom calls me Dibs, or Little Dibs. And now that my personality has had a chance to shine, it seems that I am quite the social butterfly. You see, I really like to have my flock around me. Human or bird, it doesn't matter. Us birds are flock animals, and I am happiest with my flock. Sometimes when I can't be with my flock, I cry out for them. In a past foster home, I fell in love with a boy Amazon but then we had to say good-bye and I was very sad. But now I really like my foster Mom. She says I am very loving with her. I greet her by fluffing my wings whenever she walks into the room 'cuz I'm always happy to see her. And she taught me to 'step up'. She says I'm very bright and pick up new things quickly. Sometimes when she's working on the computer I sneak up on her shoulder and watch what she's doing. Mickaboo says it's not a good idea to allow an amazon on your shoulder, but my foster Mom lets me do it 'cuz she knows I'm not a biter. You see, it seems I just don't have it in me. Sometimes when I'm scared or unhappy I want to bite, but I just can't bring myself to do it. if anything, it ends up being a 'love nibble'. Mostly I just want to hang out with my flock. So if you already have a bird or two at home and are thinking of expanding your flock, I just might be the perfect addition! Hey! Come back here and take a good look. I'm a Blue Front Amazon named DeeBee and about 18 years ago I was purchased from the notorious Doctors Pet Center. Remember the pet store chain that went out of business for inhumane practices? Well that was my beginning, overcrowded filthy cages, incompetent staff, poor diet, you name it. I lived with my previous owner all these past years but some life circumstances caused me to be surrendered to Mickaboo. Good thing too - because I am just a mess. First thing I was whisked away to an Animal Hospital for a thorough checkup. Too early to tell what is wrong with me but if you stay tuned I'll be sending in updates. Not only did Mickaboo get me to the bird vet but they temporarily changed my name until a better one comes along. You see I was called "Dirty Bird" and "Dirtiness", which didn't help my outlook on life. So for right now I'll answer to DeeBee or Sweetheart or Gorgeous - something more in line with my beautiful colors and lovely spirit.
