I've been happily adopted, but check below for a list of other sweet birds who need a home!

I'm a big bird who has had big troubles. I'm a beautiful blue and gold macaw who was so neglected that I was confiscated and placed in an animal shelter. Fortunately Mickaboo now has found me a good foster home and I'm getting medical attention for a sinus infection. Other than that and a possible old toe injury, I seem to be in good health despite my poor treatment. Unfortunately, the sorry examples of humankind I have known have taught me some ugly language. Please try to ignore that and don't hold it against me. I also know some wonderful words and in a caring home where loving language is the norm, maybe my painful words will fade away. My diet has certainly improved at Mickaboo and now I eat pellets, fruits and veggies. I'm a bit on the small side for a blue and gold, but I'm good looking and this healthful food can only improve my appearance. My past treatment has made me shy and fearful of loud noises. As timid as I am, though, I have not tried to bite my foster mom. And even though I've been through a lot lately, I have already let her give me a quick head scratch, so you know I'm looking for love. A generous helping of affection and time will let my sweet nature shine. If you can be gentle and patient with me, I am sure you will soon be hooked! Update: Hi there! After a few wonderful years in a very special home I have come back to Mickaboo because my adoptive mom had to deal with some health challenges. I am back in my original foster home and showing that I can handle changes well without it affecting my sweet temperament. Update 10/14/07 from the foster mom: "She is a petite and tidy little gal. Her food is never scattered about; she keeps her water clean; she poops in a pile; even when she eats fruit, she gently nibbles away at the inside and leaves the skin in tact -- honestly, I wish she'd give my others Martha Stewart type lessons. She's relatively quiet except for a sneeze sound. She tells everyone to "shut-up". She also says a very stern, direct HELLO as though she is all business and don't think for a minute she'll take any B.S. She's warmer to women than men. She's a stunning beauty." From Hook: I've just gotten better in all ways these past years so if you are looking for a fine lady macaw, contact my coordinator and lets plan a visit.
