Hello! As they say on TV "Are You Ready For Dr. Phil?" and everybody claps. Hold the applause until I've finished my story. My history is murky, but I ended up as a stray bird in an East Bay Shelter. I didn't look or feel good and someone from Mickaboo braved a cold night to drive over and see if I needed to see an emergency vet. I did and after that a wonderful bird vet came and took me to her clinic and determined that I'd had some rough times. She could tell I was older because I have lots of yellow on my Double Yellow Head. She was worried about my swollen feet and after some x-rays knew why. I had an old broken leg and broken feet that had never been treated, possibly when someone hit me with a stick. I also didn't have any tail feathers because I barely got away from something that tried to get me. Because I'd had a hard life the vet named me Hero. I stayed at that clinic quite a while until I was doing well enough to go to a foster home. My new foster mom was a sucker for my sweet ways, especially when I offered my little broken foot to step up on the very first day I was there. So this is definitely a forever home for me. I have lots of bird friends downstairs, and we call out to each other. I have a great appetite, lots of toys, and a special setup in the cage so I don't fall. My tail feathers are growing in too. I had a name change--my mom enjoys the Dr. Phil show, thinks he is entertaining, has a lot of courage, and she feels better after she watches him. She said the same thing about me. (Applause is appropriate here.) Update: Yesterday my mom bought me a special playpen that makes a tall circle on the floor. She filled it with toys and other things for me to exercise with since I can't hang out on perch trees with the other birds. First thing I did, bad feet and all, was climb right up the side and fly into another room!
