UPDATE March 2008: Allen has bonded with Cecelia. Cecilia was rescued from a shelter last summer and just fell for Allen when they met at their foster Mom's house! They hang out together all the time. Allen can be handled. They eat pellets and like to shred kale. These two cuties are ready for their new home- are you ready for them?

Allen's Story: I was flying around Sacramento and found a lovely outside aviary of budgies! Without a home myself, I decided to hang around for a bit. Now I'm glad to be safe and sound with my Mickaboo foster mom. It's been raining lovebirds here at Mickaboo lately. I, Allen, am just one of the very diverse and colorful little African parrots Mickaboo has to offer. Even though you have a wonderful selection of potential new playmates here to choose from, I think you ought to pick me. Why, you ask? Simply because I think you should - and because I really, r-e-a-l-l-y want to be adopted! It's not bad here at my foster home, really. . . I have other peach-faced lovebirds, such as myself, to watch and chirp to. So that's pretty nice . . . and I have toys, a boing and good food my foster mom gives me. That's nice too. I'd just kinda like my own place though - you now how it is don't you? I dream of a special home with a family to call my own. For a bird my size, I have a relatively large beak. It's called a hook bill. My hooked beak allows me to eat a variety of seeds and nuts, but that is not all you should feed me (feeding me only that could lead to vitamin deficiency and other horrible health problems!). Like my foster mom does, you should always feed me a mixture of pellets, fruits, veggies and some seed to keep me healthy. I do have a weakness for millet spray so I'd like it if I could have that as a treat every once in awhile too. I'd better get going now. Don't forget! When you contact the Coordinator about lovebirds - tell her it's Allen you're interested in!
