Update 02/02/2008: I'd like to re-introduce myself - I'm Jody and I'm an active, playful Goffin's cockatoo. Don't let my small stature fool you - I have a huge personality. I keep myself entertained by tying knots and stringing beads with leather laces and I love my toys and bell! I'm fascinated with anything shiny such as belt buckles, buttons and zippers. I know a few words and phrases such as such as "whatcha doin"? I don't really like spray bottles too much for bathing, but showers - oh yeah! Eating is a hobby of mine and I like most everything including pellets, pasta, fresh fruit and veggies as well as some parrot seed mix for a treat. OK, well maybe not so much of the fruit and veggies as I should but I'm working on that. Besides I can power through the tip of an apple in no time - tossing the remains to the dogs. I love to cuddle and will happily preen your face all over if you'll allow me too. Talk about cute too - I have just the cutest peach cheeks you've ever seen, and you've just GOT to feel my bunny-soft feathers, they beckon to be petted. My foster mom says I'm just so darn adorable that even my missing toe adds to my character. I have had some sad times in my life - including the recent loss of my wonderful Daddy. I thought things would never be the same again until I came to this nice foster home. I'm Jody, a Goffin's cockatoo, twice orphaned but still a love magnet. When I was only 5 weeks old, my bird mom died, so I was raised by my first human mom. We loved each other very much, but she passed away a few months ago. For a while I lived with a neighbor, who also loved me. (Hey, what can I say--I'm just a loveable creature). But she has a dog and a cat who don't understand me. Or maybe I don't understand them, becaue I think they want to play, but they seem to have a dinner party in mind, with me as the main course. So Mickaboo is finding me a new home where I can share my love safely. I like to play on a bed with my toys or cuddle with my person while she works on her computer or watches TV. In fact, cuddling is one of my favorite activities. If you forget to give me plenty of head scritches, I'll remind you by rubbing my little Goffin's crest against your hand. Simply put, I love everyone, even children, and am generous with my kisses. I hope to have a new object of my affection very soon, because I'm simply irresistible! Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
