Updated April, 2009: Sadly my recent adoption didn't work out and I'm back in a Mickaboo foster home. Hi there! My name is Buddy and I'm a wild-caught Mitred conure from Argentina. I'm blind in my left eye (the vets think it happened when I was taken from the wild) and, as you can see, I'm plucked from the breast down and lower back. Don't let the appearance fool you, I'm a very pleasant boy with personality enough to make up for a lack of feathers!

I've had a hard life. First, I was taken from my home in the wild and then I was abandoned in an apartment with practically no food until the apartment manger turned me in. A wonderful lady took me in and loved me very very much, but unfortunately had to give me up due to my noise.

My current foster dad is working on breaking "the shoulder bird" habit that I had since I was imported, it's slow going but I'm trying hard and am improving. I'm mostly a one-person bird, but I don't act aggressively when others are around me ? I just tend to ignore those besides the one person I love. But when you're that person, I will cuddle your hand, laugh when you laugh (or laugh when some on the radio or on T.V. laughs), cluck like a turkey, and I adore playing hide-and-seek.

As far as food goes, I've always been on pellets but I love orange, almonds, a bit of broccoli, some cauliflower, apples, a tad of scrambled eggs, cherry tomatoes, cottage cheese, melons, and peanut butter.

And when it comes to toys, please buy me anything that's rope! Even if it has blocks on a loose rope, I'll tackle it!

So, if you can provide love, patience, and care ? and are willing to love me for who I am, you might be the perfect match. And just as you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, please don't judge a bird by its feathers!
