Update: Ah the living can be easy . . . my foster mom says I'm "a love". I have not tried to bite her even once. She took me to an avian vet for a health check and I wasn't very well - had an old viral infection, little pudgy around the middle, and the trauma to my eye. My foster mom is giving me antibiotics and puts drops in my eye and I'm eating better foods. I'm starting to feel really good, close to happy, and I think my outlook is very bright. Forget about the attitude check I mentioned when I first came to Mickaboo. I must have checked my attitude at the door of this special foster home because it just isn't there anymore.
For some reason there seem to be a lot of Blue Front Amazons named Cookie (maybe after the Sesame Street big blue Cookie Monster). I am one of those Cookies, and sometimes I'm probably a Cookie Monster. I'm a long way from where I started back in Kentucky. I came out West a few years ago - heard the weather was good, the living was easy, but it just didn't turn out right for me. One of my owners was going to give me to someone who was going to sell me to someone else for a TV and DVD Player. I lived in a back room with dogs and a cat, was fed Cheetos to keep me quiet, breathed in a lot of cigarette smoke, was kept covered because of my "squawking" and some little kid banged on my cage. No one seems to know what happened but I have a problem with one eye, there is a film over it and it is sunken in.
I haven't heard if I'm a he or she, or exactly how old I am, but some people figure I am only about 8 or 9 years old. In my last home I didn't have much I could call my own, so it became my cage and I protected it with my life. I'd just lunge and flap and act very ferocious if anyone got too close. I ate a parrot mix and some fruits and nuts. I'm a talker and a squawker and can do a dance called the "Turkey" when the music is right. I bark and meow, and whistle, say things like "Hi" and "Bye", talk to myself and argue with myself. My mom worked long hours and felt bad about my waiting all day for some attention. She said she knew inside there is a loving bird, but I've had to defend myself for so long, I've forgotten how to let go. She decided that Mickaboo might be a life changing experience for me.
Mickaboo set me up in a foster home with another Blue Front Amazon monster - named Bebbi. He is there for an attitude adjustment just like me!! I've already been looking at him, checking out if he has more toys or better food than I do. Now this bird is a lot rougher than I am - he lunges and reaches out with his long nails to snag our mom so he can bite her and what does she do - she catches his little foot, holds it and KISSES IT and says she loves him! Wow! Is this Mickaboo a life changing experience or what?

Notice: Due to the sometimes difficult nature of amazons, Mickaboo prefers that amazons not be a households' first parrot. If you intend to house an amazon, please research the following websites:
