Pretzel is a homing pigeon that suffered an eye injury and the clipping of the flight feathers of one wing (which is a disaster for a bird let outside). Somehow he (?) was lucky enough to get taken to the SJ Animal Shelter but they are very full and he was running out of time. MickaCoo squeezed him into foster care and he's doing well. His eye is healing and he is safe in an aviary. His clipped flight feathers (which mean he can fly well enough to get lost and hurt but not well enough to survive) will grow back. We still aren't sure about Pretzel's gender. In small groups he acts a little mannish but in a larger flock he seems more like a lady pigeon. Time will tell. He's more of a bird's bird so far but homers are easy going and pretty adaptable and he would likely do well in a variety of settings. Pretzel is a domestic pigeon and can't be released.
