1/3/12 UPDATE: I'm a married bird now! I have a lovely king pigeon wife named Dot and she just shakes her head when I play "football pigeon" with my foster mom. I am a real character and everybody loves me! We'd do well in a gentle aviary or as indoor pets. (Note: Don't tell Lopez I wrote this but, while he is full of confidence with people, he's easily intimidated by other pigeons.) *** Hello, my name is Lopez. MickaCoo doesn't know all my story but they do know that on June 29th, I was so hungry and desperate for human help that I flew first into a car and then, when that didn't work, into an Assisted Living Facility (right?). They didn't know what to do but luckily they knew about Mickaboo parrot rescue and Mickaboo contacted MickaCoo pigeon rescue and now I am safe and getting fed, thank goodness! Somebody raised me up as a pet and then "set me free" (kicked me to the curb!) and I didn't have any survival skills nor flock to teach me and I was about starved to death trying to make it on my own. Now I am happily fostered and I really enjoying spending time with my foster volunteer (much more fun than being in a cage!). I'll come flying when you call me (inside an aviary or the house where it is safe) and I LOVE to eat safflower seeds from a generous hand. Because someone raised me by hand, I now need a home. I am not releasable. Please folks- if you find a baby pigeon and you aren't prepared to commit to it for 15 years, please take the baby to a reputable wildlife rescuer that helps pigeons to be rehabbed and released. I could be flying free and living my full life if someone had done that for me. Now, I have to be a pet pigeon and to do that, I need a home!
