Hello, my name is Koa! I am a young king pigeon. I was raised and sold as meat (squab)! But I'm a smart, sweet, gentle and very lucky bird. I was rescued when a kind person saw a restaurant employee sweeping me into a Berkeley street with a broom! Somehow, I had dodged the butcher and the predators and dangers that were waiting to kill me out in the wild and was about to be run over! Instead, miraculously, I was rescued and nursed through my respiratory infections (most of us baby kings come in sick, weak, injured or all of the above) and now I am doing great. Thank you for saving me! I even wear pants and go out to events as a Pigeon Ambassador (though truth be told, that's a lot of work for a pigeon and I'd rather be home naked in the aviary, we pigeons are masters of the leisure arts).
