Chandak here! I'm a white-faced grey cockatiel and my name means "moonlight" in Hindi. The people at Mickaboo are sure that I'm a male because of all the white on my face -- females of my color variation have more subtly-colored, grey-white faces -- and because of my whistling. So, I was found in Fremont, when I flew into somebody's house there. It was obvious to them that I was fairly tame and was used to being indoors, around people. It was also obvious that i was hungry and a bit scared, so they took me to their closest animal shelter. I stayed there for a few days to give my owner a chance to claim me, but nobody did. Since coming into foster care, I've gained a little weight, have been eating healthy and hearty foods, and have gotten my confidence back! I'm proving to be a brave, friendly little bird who likes being around people and other birds, and who loves to whistle and sing. Like most other cockatiels, I prefer being with others of my own species, but I might do well as an only bird with a lot of human attention. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
