My name is Ziggy and I am a handsome 22 year old, DNA Sexed male Yellow Nape Amazon. I had the ideal life - a long relationship with a loving family, two big cages, top of the line organic pellets, treats, fruits and veggies, and a good avian vet to check my health. But suddenly serious illness hit the human baby in my family pushing this caring home into crisis. With the rest of the flock frequently at the doctors' offices and hospital and unable to spend much time with me, I began to suffer too. I recently had a checkup with my vet and she said I'm in great shape. With the help of my vet, my family learned about Mickaboo. I am settling into my foster home. I spend a lot of time with my foster dad. My previous owner said I do not like men so we are taking this relationship one step at a time. I have met the family dog and am not afraid. I have a large human vocabulary and can sing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." I especially like to talk when people are not in the room. Where ever I am around Halloween will be a treat for those folk because I can laugh hysterically like a witch. I need some refresher training on step up to a hand but I am very good about stepping up on a perch stick every time!! I like my head scritched but you need to be able to read my body language loud and clear before sticking your fingers near my face. You can read between the lines? I am not a screamer and am able to entertain myself by shredding paper, wood, toys, and other appropriate things. Like most amazons I am an enthusiastic eater - enjoying Harrison's pellets, Avi cakes, fresh fruit and veggies. Sometimes I bite and can be aggressive. I am a bird who could use some structure in my life and perhaps you would be willing to teach me new manners. Its not too early to ask what your plans are for Halloween?. Notice: Due to the sometimes difficult nature of amazons, Mickaboo prefers that amazons not be a households' first parrot.
