Hi, I'm Sunita, a happy, tame, cuddly little 13 year old Jenday conure. I am a loving little bird that my daddy says is also very smart and fun to interact with. My favorite thing to say is, "Hi Baby!" but I also say "Hello," "Whatcha doin?" "Come here!" and lots of TV imitations that my family isn't smart enough to understand. And I can do the wolf whistle.

I'm a pretty good eater and I enjoy my pellets, fruits, vegetables, and an occasional walnut or almond as a treat. I'm such a good little girl at night, I go right back into my cage when you say, "Sunita, go to your cage" and then I get covered really well to keep me warm. I also step up (no biting), and like playing with preening toys and destroying wood toys. My two favorite cage accessories are my bird cozy and my bird hut.

So, why is an adorable little bird like me available? Well, it's like this:
When my family first got me 12 years ago, I adapted well. It was a family of 3 and everyone held me and we all interacted great. I was the center of household activities. I was happy!

Then, our house went on the market and I was kept in a quiet corner of the quiet dining room during open houses. This went on for months, so strangers came in the house to see it while I was home alone and in my cage. You see, the one thing I am scared of is STRANGERS, unfamiliar noises, and quick movements. Some of these strangers did not approach quietly and gently (I guess there were just interested in looking at the house, not in making sure that I felt safe). In fact, the only time I bite is if a stranger scares me.

Following this, my family moved three times in one year. My family finally settled into a quiet place, but by then, I had been a little traumatized and had started plucking. My family has tried to help, but they feel that I belong with a family that can give me a lot of constant attention. They have loved me, and especially their daughter loved me, but now, she is 23 and away at college and out of the area. And mom and dad have come to realize that their lifestyle is just too busy for a bird like me, who is not good at handling constant change. They feel that I need so much more love and attention than they are able to give me. They want so much for Mickaboo to help me find a good home. I know they only want what's best for me.

I am a great little bird. I know that I'm not currently showing off my feathers as well as some of the other pretty Sun conures at Mickaboo, but beauty is on the inside too, and I am a real beauty! Can you see inside my heart?
