The source of this unusual name is this budgie's twisted legs, and her extremely vocal sibling - Twist and Shout. We don't know if this little budgie was hatched with her deformity or if they resulted from trauma in the nest. But her splayed legs result from damage to her knees that prevent her from standing. Even Mickaoo's remarkale avian vets could not correct the damage without risking her life, so now we are intent on maintaining her independence and quality of life. For a highly curious, incredibly tough little budgie, this is not hard. She flies like the proverbial rocket, and is very hard to catch when she is out of her cage. She finds people very interesting and, when held, does not bite (although she can pinch pretty hard). (At this stage of their lives, we have had to separate Twist and Shout because Shout doesn't fully understand the difference between her sibling and a stepladder.) Notice: Due to the highly social nature of parakeets, unless a household currently includes a parakeet, Mickaboo generally requires that a minimum of two parakeets be adopted. Print this page |
