Have you ever had a life changing experience? I have. I'm Augie and 7 years ago I wandered into a shop and met the man who would change my life forever. My story isn't just mine - it is ours. He took me in and fed me and played with me and loved me. He was my guardian angel. Now, I have a chance to do the same thing for him as he did for me. You see, my dad has a bum heart and is in need of a transplant. He has become very ill and can not take care of me the way he once could. Although I am very sad to leave him, deep down I know that he is now doing the same thing he did for me 7 years ago - he is saving me again. He has painfully made the choice to give me a life with parents who are able to care for me. I was wrong when I said he was my guardian angel - he still IS my guardian angel. So, I am doing my best to show him that I'll be ok and hope that he finds peace. This transition has been a little trying but I am slowly warming up to my new foster dad. He has been so patient with me and understands that he needs to gain my trust. I am cautious of new environments but warm up quickly as I learn that I am safe. I have some housemates that, in my opinion, are furry and slobbery, but they are cool dogs and we get along just fine. My foster dad and I have started a sort of "coffee talk" in the mornings and a bedtime chitchat as well. It's fun to just shoot the breeze. Oh, and you know when you're driving in your car alone and your favorite song comes on the radio so you start singing at the top of your lungs no matter how you sound??? Yeah, that's me. When I think of my favorite sounds I like to belt them out! I don't do this much but when I do, I pretend I?m a superstar on American Idol! I like to eat pellets, but it's not my favorite. I prefer treats! Who wouldn?t want dessert before dinner though, right? My foster dad gave me spinach and blueberries the other day. Not bad! I?m a sweet guy and warming up to all these new changes. I am hoping to find someone who will love me as much as my dad does and who I can love in return. Unconditional love is the most powerful force and I am so lucky to know what that feels like. I want to share that with you, too. P.S. I chose this picture of myself sitting in the background behind the beautiful hanging stained glass Nanday that my dad bought for me a few years ago. I tried to pose just like the bird in the glass, and I think I did a pretty good job, don't you? I hope you like it! Print this page |
