Hi! My name is Chico. I'm a 14 year old (DNA'd) male Severe macaw. I came to Mickaboo beacause my mom passed away and her daughter wanted me to have a great home. I've been kind grumpy and sad since I lost my mom, but I am good boy. I know how to step-up and if I decide I like you, you can give me head scritches. I'm a pretty good eater too! My primary diet consist of pellets, fresh fruit and veggies. My favorite treats are grapes and peanuts. I do have some history of plucking but as you can tell form my picture, its not real bad. I can also talk a little. I say "Hello", "Pretty boy" and I'll even laugh at your jokes. Being a Severe macaw means that I'm a mini-macaw. I might be small but I've got a full sized personality! So if you're looking for a macaw that doesn't take up much room and has a smaller, but respectable beak, I just might be your guy! Update from Chico's foster Mom: Although small Chico is very intelligent with a good vocabulary. He says many things and always situationally appropriate. He likes to sit on shoulders watching Television and says "I Love You! He is full of energy and enjoys attention. He has very good manners, is potty trained and will wait to do his business. He is very sweet and is working on improving his behavior however children and other pets still present a level of stress.. He has an extraordinary amount of love to share with someone special and would do very well with a single bird mom. UPDATE: Chico wants you to know that although small he is very intelligent with a good vocabulary, he says many things and always situationally and appropriate! Chico knows he's a pretty bird, says "I love you" likes to sit on shoulders and spend time watching television with you. He is full of energy, enjoys attention and loves having meals. Chico has good manners, is potty trained and will wait to do his business. Chico is a sweet bird and is working on improving his behavior. He still presents some limitations and problems with children and visitors. He tends to get anxious with loud kids and basically gets stressed out with most visitors. He stresses with other birds and does not like other pets in the home so he should preferably be a single bird where he can continue to make improvements with a single bird mom. Chico has an extraordinary amount of loe to share with someone special. I would do best in a home with no dogs, children, or other birds. Also I prefer women! Please E-mail the macaw species coordinator to find out more :-)
