Hello. My name is Summer and I'm a very independent young king pigeon. I was found wandering around all by myself at the tender age of 4 weeks old on Clement & 9th in SF. Lucky for me, instead of being eaten as somebody's lunch (squab), I was taken to the SF Animal Shelter. I did pretty good there. I was all by myself which is hard on a baby pigeon and I was in a little cage with no sunshine or fresh air but I would flap my wings for exercise and take baths in my water dish and live the best I could under the circumstances. Even so, I had a runny nose and a low-grade, chronic type respiratory infection and so I got lucky again and was taken into MickaCoo & Pigeon & Dove Rescue's foster care where I am recovering. I don't think too highly of people and will be VERY happy when I am well enough to move outside into a nice big aviary with other birds!
