Some of the birds in the flock of which Elizabeth is a part died of polyoma. The entire flock has therefore been exposed to polyoma. Elizabeth is a very pretty, pale blue budgie with light grey wings. We think she is the mother of some of the very young budgies that were part of the large flock surrendered to an animal shelter. But that doesn't mean she is old. It is likely that she was allowed to lay eggs and raise babies when she was not much older than a baby herself. As a result, she was very thin and weak when she arrived at her Mickaboo foster home. She has been cared for by one of Mickaboo's great avian vets and she is regaining her strength and weight. She is presently living in a nice big cage with two of the baby budgies in her flock, playing, getting lots of good exercise. Elizabeth will soon be as fit as she is pretty, and ready for a nice new forever home. Notice: Due to the highly social nature of parakeets, unless a household currently includes a parakeet, Mickaboo generally requires that a minimum of two parakeets be adopted. Print this page |
