We've been to school but it's possible we still have a few things to learn. I'm Ralph, a good looking cockatiel about 8 years old. My friend, Birdie, is also a cockatiel, also about 8, and also good looking. We have been enrolled in a Montessori school for a while but now we need to graduate to a lifetime home. I'm the leader of this duo and Birdie is my follower. My tendency to be dominant makes me a bit of a challenge, but I settle down once I'm away from my cage. Birdie is a little more laid back and enjoys those head strokes. I try to demonstrate to him how to hiss at people who stick fingers in our cage, but he can't quite pull off the aggressive performance. I confess he is better at stepping up than I am, though. I'm learning to step up on a dowel. This is a good lesson for me to have learned because sometimes I do bite. (You might want to check out Sally Blanchard's Beak Book.) On a lighter note, I'm a musical guy with quite a repertoire of clicks, whistles and calls, both loud and soft. Right now I'm calling for a someone who will appreciate my strong personality and Birdie's sweetness and who will be our next teacher. IF that someone is you, I promise you'll learn a lot from having us as your pupils. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
